I didn’t write this post about you, Radia. You can’t possibly be self-absorbed enough to assume that.

But plenty of people did go out to support hamas directly. And Hamas is the duly elected government of Gaza, with a wide margin of support. So yeah, Hamas = Gaza, and they are inseparable until Hamas is destroyed.

Both root cause and intersectional theories are great, up to a point. But when personal responsibility and ethics no longer matter because of the “systemic principles involved” you have a perversion of these ideas and a subjugation of morality to bogus intellectualism. It is rife everywhere, including the Harvard student letters blaming Israel for Hamas’ action, and then the terribly whiny and halfwitted excuses given when it turned out there might be real world consequences (eg lost jobs). You can’t call that especially smart or moral, can you?

My 9/11 invocation was an example. How do you think the DSA would respond if it happened today? How might those pro-Palestinian orgs respond? Would they go on twitter and defend Bin Laden? 100% yes.
