I don't use other's opinions of an ethical issue as a barometer to decide whether it's valid or not. I spend a lot of time working on my moral compass and trust its judgement most of the time.

Prediction markets (e.g. polling or opinion convergence) are useful if what you're trying to do is divine the future based on popular opinion. They are not good for moral decision making IMHO.
