I think this is factually incorrect.

First and foremost, you misunderstand the power law of computational power and AI. If you are going to opine on the topic, you likely need to go back and get re-grounded in the substantive facts of our industry.

Moore’s law is possibly the best place to start.

I have learned in 30 years of driving tech-based innovation that the relentless increase in computing power is likely to surprise even the most cynical person.

Second, computer vision is already capable of highway-speed autonomy. That was the point of my post, really — Tesla has done a phenomenal job of highway autonomy with 2016 processors + cheap computer vision. The new version (shipping now) will be even more powerful. It is streetside autonomy that will pose a greater (but I believe not insurmountable) challenge.
