If everyone who had lied was not believed, there would be no one left to trust, Ben.

For example, you are a serial liar. I bet you have told lies to the people closest to you — the ones who need your honesty the most. I am 100% sure you’ve told lies to people that caused them harm, and contributed to the burden of untruth that surrounds you.

Like you, I too am a liar.

But the fact that we lie about some things, doesn’t mean we lie about everything, does it?

I don’t know why Robson and Safechuck lied, but they clearly did. Either their testimony that Jackson didn’t rape them is true, or it isn’t. Either way, both versions of the story cannot absolutely be true.

However, if you had read my post (which your ham-fisted response suggests you did not), you would notice that the very first point I make is that divining the “truth” is not your job or my job — and it’s beside the point.

Empathy is the point. Listening is the point. Supporting people who’ve been hurt is the point.

In whatever bizarre universe defending Michael Jackson is a virtue, I have no doubt you’ll be admitted into heaven. But in this one, where there are two hurt adults and one dead king of pop, you probably won’t.
