Project 2025 and the Democrats’ Failure of Imagination

How a 900 page document, identity politics and misaligned priorities highlight the real risk facing Biden

The Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 is causing the usual hand-wringing in Democratic circles we’ve come to expect from anything proposed by arch-conservatives and Trump. It is, in case you haven’t been watching MSNBC or receiving Biden fundraising emails, a 900 page proposal to overhaul the executive that was hatched in some of the most conservative corners of American policymaking.

As usual, however, Democrats are missing the point, fumbling the ball and lacking in imagination.

The Easy Stuff Seems Hardest

The paper is filled with many ominous and terrible ideas — such as rolling back access to abortion even further on the federal level and making every department into an anti-abortion advocacy organization. This is low hanging fruit that every Democrat should be campaigning on, because abortion access remains important to the electorate and the Dems are on the right side of the equation.
