Ralph — I’m not sure what you’re saying.

Plenty of research shows clearly that electric vehicles are substantially greener that gas-powered cars over their intended lifespans. This is because of energy efficiency — gas-powered vehicles only convert around 40–50% of their energy potential into movement. Electric vehicles are closer to 93%. In the first few years, the additional impact of the batteries holds back the green quality of EVs, but that quickly accelerates over time. Obviously, if everyone got rid of their ICE cars just to get EVs, it would be a few years before we’d see the benefits. But if you need to get a new car anyway, the greener choice is better.

Now, if your point is that EM can’t be an environmentalist because he wants to go to Mars, that’s a different conversation. :) But the EVs are worse than gas cars thing is just not true.
