Trump and Pence’s Coronavirus “Plan” Will Kill Thousands. Let Them Fail.
Trump’s boneheaded move to defund the CDC’s epidemic-response department is only matched in its stupidity by his appointment of Mike Pence to head the country’s Coronavirus response for the White House. I know no one wants to work for that idiot, but if this isn’t scraping the bottom of the barrel of lube, I don’t know what is. Spoiler: it’s gonna hurt like hell. Breathe.
Actually, I’m pretty convinced people are going to die unnecessarily as a result. Despite the extraordinary quality of doctors and nurses in this country, the immunocompromised, elderly and very young are going to be disproportionately impacted — and many will perish needlessly. I’m not advocating for increased human suffering and death, but if the die is cast anyway (and with this administration, it definitely is), perhaps we should revisit our collective, resistive response:
One thing you can always rely on is Republicans passing laws that disproportionately hurt the poor (including their own base). And one thing you can always count on is Democrats stepping up to try and save those people.
